Blantyre Water Board (BWB) Women's Welfare group brought smiles and hope to children at the Courageous Kids Foundation in Mpemba today, 27th December 2024, by donating food and non-food items valued at 2.5 million kwacha.
This annual act of kindness, part of the women’s welfare group’s tradition of giving back during the festive season, included essential food supplies, clothing, and other necessities to uplift the lives of children at the orphanage.
During the handover ceremony, the Director of Human Resources and Administration, Mrs. Mercy Phiri highlighted the importance of fostering a sense of belonging and community for the children.
"This donation is not just about the items we have brought, but a message of love and solidarity. You are not alone, you are part of a community that cares deeply for you. We hope this inspires you to share kindness and compassion with one another as you grow into the bright future we all believe in," said Mrs. Phiri.
The heartfelt gesture was met with gratitude by the Director of the Foundation, Courageous Musasa, who described the donation as timely and impactful.
"With over 90 children under our care, many of whom are in boarding schools, we were worried about resources as the school term approaches. This is truly an answered prayer," she said.
The visit concluded with a tour of the orphanage where the BWB Women's Welfare group spent time with the children, sharing words of encouragement and spreading festive cheer.
