Blantyre Water Board is challenged to deliver sustainable services to its customers due to prevalent occurrences of illegal use of water perpetuated by some customers. The Board has carried out several campaigns in the past to eliminate existing illegal connections. However, detection of the malpractice has not been easy. BWB spends huge sums of money to distribute water to customers and it becomes a challenge to manage supply against demand when the distribution network is loaded with unauthorized consumptions.
