The Blantyre Water Board (BWB) is participating at a 3-day National Workshop on Non-Revenue Water (NRW) Reduction in Malawi, spotlighting the critical issue of water conservation and loss reduction.
Held at the Ryalls Hotel in Blantyre, the event has brought together water experts from all water boards and other water institutions across the nation to collaborate on innovative strategies for minimizing water losses and enhancing efficiency in water management systems.
The workshop was opened with a keynote address by the Principal Secretary of the Ministry of Water and Sanitation Mr. Elias Chamulambe who emphasized the urgent need to address non-revenue water, which includes water lost through leaks, theft, and metering inaccuracies.
Participants are engaging in a series of interactive sessions and panel discussions covering various aspects of NRW reduction, from the latest technological advancements in leak detection to best practices in community engagement and regulatory frameworks.
The workshop started on Wednesday 5th June 2024 and will end on Friday 7th June 2024.
