SIX HONORED FOR OUTSTANDING FAULT REPORTING

Blantyre Water Board (BWB) has today 20th September 2024 recognized six dedicated customers for their exemplary efforts in reporting more water faults between September 2023 and August 2024.

The awardees—Joel Mkulichi (55 faults), Patrick Matemba (67 faults), Vincent Chikaluma (32), Nedson Chintendere (48), Chikondi Gwetsani (34), and Doris Nyaka (103)—were celebrated at an event held today at Mount Soche Hotel. Each received a water dispenser and a certificate of recognition as a gesture of BWB’s appreciation for their role in maintaining the city's water infrastructure.

During the ceremony, BWB’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Robert T. Hanjahanja, commended the recipients for their vigilance, noting their crucial contribution in minimizing water loss from burst pipes and other issues. He stressed that their actions have significantly supported the Board’s mission to enhance water service delivery and reduce wastage.

"When customers report faults, we consider it our highest priority and respond swiftly. Recognizing these individuals is our way of encouraging such valuable support in keeping our system efficient," Dr. Hanjahanja remarked.

Vincent Chikaluma, one of the recipients, expressed gratitude for the acknowledgment. He praised BWB for valuing community involvement, emphasizing that reporting faults is a responsibility that benefits everyone.

"As a citizen, I report faults because water is irreplaceable. Receiving this recognition is a bonus, but the real reward is knowing that our efforts contribute to a better water supply for all," Chikaluma said.

The Blantyre Water Board reaffirmed its commitment to honoring more customers in the future who actively contribute to preserving the city’s water supply.
