Water supply networks are capital intensive. This entails that Blantyre Water Board (BWB) invests huge sums of money to manage water distribution function. The Board experiences a big setback in meeting continuous supply of water to its customers due to rise in vandalism (an action involving deliberate destruction of or damage to property). Some faults being experienced in the water supply system results due to vandalism and this act of vandalism affects water supply management.

To curb this malpractice, BWB is working with relevant stakeholder including community policing, the Malawi Police etc. to ensure that water distribution infrastructure is secured for better performance of water distribution function. The Board is therefore encouraging the Blantyre residents to report all cases of vandalism and illegal connections.
