The Minister of Forestry and Natural Resources, Hon. Nancy Tembo - MP on Wednesday 2nd December 2020 visited Blantyre Water Board to discuss with Board of Directors and Management on issues that will help in achieving mutual objectives between Government and Blantyre Water Board.

The Hon. Minister expressed confidence in the new Board of Directors that they are a competent team that will strive to improve the current situation at Blantyre Water Board. Prior to the meeting, the Minister planted trees in the Mudi Catchment area which surrounds Blantyre Water Board’s Mudi Dam.

She said that one of the challenges being faced by the Board is deforestation of the forest around Mudi Dam. She therefore planted trees in the mudi catchment to remind everyone of their responsibility to the environment. "People need to protect these trees to continue enjoying water from BWB", she added. She encouraged BWB to continue planting trees in the catchment in partnership with surrounding communities.
