Blantyre Water Board (BWB) has launched its official BWB Madzi App and Sustaining the Flow of Life and Development (SLD) Program which are aimed at improving service delivery.

The event was held on 16th August 2023 at Amaryllis Hotel in Blantyre where the Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation Hon. Liana Kakhobwe Chapota, MP presided over the launch and unveiled the BWB Madzi App and SLD Program.

Speaking during the launch, Hon. Chapota commended BWB for the two developments saying it is a move in the right direction and encouraged them to continue being innovative so that their customers are given the best experience in access their services.

"Customers will no longer be required to go to Blantyre Water Board but rather will access the services at their own time in their homes. As the government we are very pleased because for a nation to develop we need to embrace the use of technology, which is also in line with the Malawi 2063 agenda in which ICT is one of the enablers to realise that vision". Said the Deputy Minister.

The Board Chairman for Blantyre Water Board Mr. Joe Ching'ani expressed his excitement with BWB team for the innovations and assured customers to expect a thrilling experience with the BWB Madzi App.

"We are proud as a Board to be associated with this launch because here is an innovation that has come to make life easier for the customers. At a touch of a button we are bringing the Water Board close to the people and at the same time reducing the time they spend to access particular services with the Board". Said Ching'ani.

The SLD Program is an initiative which is designed to change the mindset of BWB staff and improve organisation's culture. On the other hand, the BWB Madzi App provides a platform for direct access to Blantyre Water Board services.

The event was attended by a cross-section of people from the business community, Government, BWB customers and staff of Blantyre Water Board.

The app can be downloaded from Google Play Store
