BWB’S MERCY PHIRI RECOGNIZED FOR CHAMPIONING DIVERSITY, EQUITY AND INCLUSION
Blantyre Water Board (BWB) is celebrating yet another moment of pride as its Director of Human Resources and Administration, Mrs. Mercy Phiri, has been recognized by the Institute of People Management in Malawi (IPMM) for her outstanding leadership in championing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) in the workplace.
The award, presented during the 2025 IPMM Annual Conference, acknowledges individuals who go beyond policy and practice to create inclusive organizational cultures where everyone — regardless of gender, age, background, or ability — can thrive and contribute meaningfully.
Mrs. Phiri has been instrumental in advancing gender balance in leadership, supporting career growth for young professionals, and fostering a workplace culture that values empathy and collaboration.
In her remarks after receiving the award, Mrs. Phiri dedicated the recognition to the entire BWB family, emphasizing that inclusion is not a one-person effort but a collective commitment.
The award serves as an inspiration for all BWB employees, a reminder that building a strong and sustainable institution begins with valuing its people. It underscores that inclusion and respect for diversity are vital ingredients in driving innovation, motivation, and long-term organizational success.
As Blantyre Water Board continues to deliver on its mandate of providing safe and reliable water to the people of Blantyre and surrounding areas, this recognition reinforces its commitment to fostering an inclusive organizational culture — one that mirrors the diverse communities it serves.
