New BWB board of directors ready to perform


The newly appointed Board of Directors for Blantyre Water Board have been sworn in, marking the beginning of a new chapter of leadership and governance for the organisation.

The newly appointed Board of Directors for Blantyre Water Board have been sworn in, marking the beginning of a new chapter of leadership and governance for the organisation. The swearing-in ceremony took place on 8th January 2026, and was followed by insightful presentations from all Heads of Departments. In his remarks, BWB Board Chairman Counsel Stanley Chirwa said his team is geared towards improving efficiency in all aspects of BWB operations, with a strong focus on service delivery, accountability and sustainable water supply. "Our focus is maximizing efficiency in terms of water supply, distribution, customer care, timely procurements and all other areas which Blantyre Water Board operates in", he said. BWB Acting Chief Executive Officer, Eng. Chawanangwa Jana, assured the new Board of Directors that management and staff are ready to support the Directors as they execute their duties. "Together, we can strengthen Blantyre Water Board’s capacity to deliver reliable, safe and affordable water to the people we serve", he said. The new Board of Directors, under the Chairmanship of Counsel Stanley Chirwa, brings together a diverse and experienced team comprising Mr. Raymond C. Nkhata, Bishop Peter Likagwa, Ms. Brenda Banda, Mr. Rajab Malimba, Mr. George Eneya, Mr. Yesaya Unyolo, Mrs. Leonora Mpinganjira, T/A Tsabango and Ms. Catherine Nchoma.
